CongoMN is proud to announce a new partnership with Hennepin Healthcare to improve healthcare access for Congolese community members in the Twin Cities.
Through this partnership, Hennepin Healthcare will provide monthly health education workshops at our community center on topics including diabetes prevention, mental health awareness, prenatal care, and childhood immunizations. All workshops will be offered in French, Lingala, and Swahili with English interpretation available.
Additionally, Hennepin Healthcare community health workers who speak Congolese languages will be available at our center twice a month to help community members navigate insurance enrollment, schedule appointments, and understand their health benefits.
“Language and cultural barriers are the biggest obstacles our community faces in accessing healthcare,” said CongoMN Health Navigator Solange Mbala. “This partnership breaks down those barriers in a meaningful way.”
The first workshop — “Understanding Your Health Insurance Options in Minnesota” — will be held on March 20. No registration required.
